The most popular ice cream flavor among Italians?

What if the answer came from the person who wrote "Chocolate ice cream"?

Who knows, maybe even Cristiano Malgioglio, while carefully choosing the words for the song to give to Pupo, did not know that his lyrics contained the result of the analysis carried out on the taste of the Italians' most beloved ice cream.

The top 7 was released by the Italian Gelato Institute, which reported a detailed analysis of what most people's choices are in gelateria.

Ranking:

  1. Chocolate ice cream (with the 27% of preferences)
  2. Hazelnut ice cream (20%)
  3. Lemon ice cream (13%)
  4. Strawberry ice cream (12%)
  5. Cream Ice Cream (10%)
  6. Stracciatella ice cream (9%)
  7. Pistachio Ice Cream (8%)

For Italians, therefore, the must-have ice cream is in cream flavors: they are the most popular on the cone (which wins by 72% in the sample versus 29% in the cup).

73% of respondents said they opt for at least one cream when choosing ice cream flavors. And again, strangely enough, it turned out that fruit flavors find more success among children.
It is really the case to say but what goodness...chocolate ice cream! And come on, let's face it, eating ice cream is more of a ritual than a mere consumption. A real treat rather than a hasty break.
And again to put it in music?

Then there are the (somewhat) more special ice cream flavors.
I am not surprised not to find ice cream flavors with unusual flavors in this special ranking.
Forget, then, the wasabi ice cream created in a New York gelateria or the beer ice cream that has become an institution in Germany. Italians, in this, remain purists, with the great classics preferred to any alternative.
In the rest of the world, it is therefore possible to find very original flavors, such as viper ice cream or cactus ice cream, or even lamb, potato and even pizza flavors. In short, as always, long live the imagination!
Ice cream is an experience to be enjoyed intensely.
The other statistic that stands out in the report compiled by the Istituto Del Gelato Italiano is the approach with which Italians eat ice cream:
not just a break to be enjoyed quietly, but a real moment of pleasure (95% response of respondents), of cheerfulness (84%), of companionship (75%), of freedom (55%), and of self-gratification (50%).
In fact, on average, the time spent on ice cream lasts up to 7 minutes; most often away from home, in the company of one's friends (63%) or sweetheart (40%).
Last but not least: although summer remains the ideal time to indulge in a moment of tasty coolness, for Italians, ice cream knows no season.
The sample's 74% confirms to enjoy it even when the temperatures drop, to end a family meal or as an after-dinner treat to be savored in the comfort of the couch at home. This, too, is a timeless classic.
