Trivia about ice cream

The most peculiar tastes

Ice cream is appreciated in all its flavors, from creams of all kinds, to the many varieties of fruit, to the different declinations of ice cream, fondant, milk, gianduia. However, there are very special flavors that, despite being completely whimsical, get quite a lot of appreciation.

According to a study conducted by U.S. researchers, in first place for the world's strangest and most original ice creams is "foie gras" ice cream, followed by chocolate-covered "real cicadas," pizza ice cream, caviar ice cream, squid ink ice cream, and 'nduja ice cream.

Guinees of the primates

The largest ice cream in the world is the one made by "Dimitri Panciera," a skilled ice cream maker who can place as many as 104 scoops, in different flavors, on a cone.

In just three minutes, the skill of this extraordinary ice cream maker amazed visitors to the spectacular 2014 "Gelatiamo" event, held, as it is every year, in Zoppè, Val di Zoldo, to the point that the event entered the Guinness Book of World Records, beating the previous record of one hundred scoops.

The ice cream carts

Younger people probably do not know or remember the opening line of one of Lucio Battisti's most famous songs, I giardini di Marzo. This very popular 1972 song begins with "The cart went by and that man shouted ice cream." Ice cream carts were, at least until a few years ago were the norm (today they are still there but more rarely), before ice cream parlors became more popular.

Their history is curious. These carts, in fact, were born in the mid-19th century because of the economic crisis present at that time. Some Italian street vendors (from the Belluno area) decided to export homemade ice cream to major European capitals, precisely aboard these carts. The result was a success that, although with less incidence, still endures today.

Tell me what ice cream you eat and I will tell you who you are

According to some studies conducted by expert nutrition psychologists, there is a meaning attached to the predilection of eating ice cream.

Those who prefer, for example, waffle ice cream like to have complete fulfillment, not limited only to the taste of cold. These are people who like to satisfy the senses in every way. Stick ice cream lovers are those who like to stick to solid things, needing to hold something in their hands so they can ensure their safety.

Finally, those who prefer popsicles, which are lighter and more refreshing, have a tendency to be a bit rushed or to eat quickly.
